Perhaps some form of insulation or heat shield around the heat cap might be possible?

Mine starts off slow, but when it warms up it goes like the clappers.
I've taken the needle valve out to see if there's any mods possible, but can't see any.
The needle valve isn't very finely adjustable for a small flame (at least my example) its either off or on.
I'd like to see if a smaller cooler flame adjusted the running speed.

I may have had mine running a little slower than what you are showing .... perhaps?!?!
But I keep thinking that as smoothly as it runs through lower speeds during start-up and shutdown, it really should be able to run continuously at a slower pace .... maybe?!?!
The thought of adding some more load to slow it down occurs to me, but the mechanism is not really accessory friendly.

I do really like this Rider Ericsson, the gas valve control is very hard to adjust (anyone else with this model noticed that with theirs)its a needle valve?
Anyone slowed theirs down?
