Boy oh boy those boilers look big!

You seem to be having a lot of fun running engines lately ;) are you getting them ready for Cabin Fever?
-
Not saying much, but I have never seen something like these pictured or live-operation.Very interesting 🙂

I've had the pleasure of having the 2 plinth model right here in the SPS shop and running. What a treat to have something that a young Tom Jensen Sr. Started his business with. These are 2 exceedingly rare plants that most people will never see in person, thanks for bringing them to us Gil.

Thanks, Daniel.!
We have a guest room if you need a place to stay.

Gil my friend ...... once again I see that you are having just too much fun!
Some day, some way, I'll have to find a way to stop by the office for a day, just to have a play along with you!!!

Thanks, Richard !

This is a pretty rare sight.
Two of the 4 known Jensen Steam Engines with 6" diameter boilers are here side by side for a Steam-Up.
Beyond these 2 there are only 2 more known Jensens (both are #50s) with 6" boilers.
I ran them both from the same variac.
During warm up I brought the total shared wattage to about 1500.
After they were good, hot, and running for a bit, I turned down the juice to just over 90 volts which gave them about 850 watts to share.
The early D-Valve engine is fast and loud compared to the #50.
Once it was shut down you will hear a lot less noise as this #50 is surprisingly quiet.
Special credit to my granddaughter C.C. who helped me clean the dust off both and polish a little with Simichrome and microfiber towels.
Enjoy,
Gil
