Looking up more price results, found two carousels that only brought $160 each! Most of those are showing $400-500, but shipping is easily over $100…

Easier to get hold of a 16051 in my experience. I will look for one :-)

I paid $2K for my 16051 unused in the box pristine condition.

Thanks for the price-reference.
Are you happy with your model ? Shelfqueen -or running it ?  :-)

I've run the engine. I like it very much. I also have the Marklin carousel. They mak a great set to display and run. Good luck finding a suitable example.

I`d go for the carouselle as well, if opportunity.

Well, I have sold three of these in the last two years.
Two were brand new in the box. The third fired one time.

I sold both of the new ones over $2000.
One shipping to Europe.
The cheapest used one $1800.

A lot of ads show $2600 plus.
You really have to talk with the buyer and see what they are comfortable paying.
I have seen auction ones go for under $800.

These are much more popular outside the USA and rarer to find.

If your selling one I tend to start at what you would take for it and go from there.

Sometimes I see pretty cheap, I have given some away for free and other times I would only accept top dollar.

Find what you and the buyer are comfortable with and go from there.

$1000 from a private seller is on the low end. $2500 is topping out.

Mint condition will bring the higher prices for the collectors.

Someone who plans to use it will not pay that much.

Cheers.
Jack

Thats great feedback. Thanks, Jack :-)

Here’s mine from 1:17-1:37, ran all day for three days and the pump kept the boiler level about right almost the whole time

Also if your selling to someone who has dozens of engines they are not likely to pay the higher prices. Unless they really want yours.
At the same time, the person who has a few and saving up for the specific engine will pay more. Sometimes more than they should.
Never met a steam engine I did not like... Cheers.

Here’s a recent high end sale. I like my 16051, but for that money I would buy an older big Märklin…

I am with Nick - 1000 to 1200 for "brand new" 1400

this one was sold in Switzerland 885.00 CHF:

Do not forget that it is a copy from model 4098 (boiler) and 4158 (motor)
and will not reach high collector status - maybe in 100 years ;D

If you want the matching carousel, keep “Marklin 16121” in your eBay saved search, have seen several go in the $300 range, just be careful and check shipping cost first

Nice accessorie. If it was offered in my area; I would most certainly consider it. I keep my eyes open :-)

$1000-1200 USD is what I would value it at. Current ads are no good for value, need to look at completed listings

Thanks for the input, Nick.

Do you the 1000-1200 reflects a unused model -or a used one ?
I am sure a brand new one should be somewhat more valuable than a used one, even if the used is in top condition.... ?
$1200 unfired, $1000 fired but like new. Have seen them sell $1500-2000 have also seen used but like new sell as low as $600

Marklin 16051:
What is your assessment of markedvalue of this model these days; respectively in new/ unused state and used top condition ?

Currently, two brand new 16051 are offered for aprox USD 2600 give or take on ebay/ Germany .
Sound too much to be realistic. Or not ?

I ask about the 16051; as one are on offer in relative close distance. If price is right, I can pick it up only a few hours away from home in fact.

Your opinions are appreciated !  :-)
