Bonjour Tim,

Your 10V is quiet because it has been well-built. If you wish no dead point for it, here is an idea :

On steam:

Please also note the little screw on the cylinder head to inject oil, preventing future rust on the cylinder head  ;)

Bonjour to all,
I recently underwent heart valve replacement surgery, so I haven't been able to spend much time in the workshop. Yesterday (13 May) was the first time I've been in there since the beginning of April. I had the surgery at Limoges University hospital, where I spent 10 days mending, then was sent to a beautiful rehabilitation hospital for three weeks near Guéret. They know how to take care of you here in France.

Anyway, back to the shop.

First, I fired up the MB steam engine I acquired a few months ago, and hooked up a French-made water pump just to see if the MB had the power to run it. The little engine had no trouble at all making the water flow. It was also the first time I ran the engine on meths. The engine came with a burner that looks a lot like it was from a Mamod. It worked great. Took a bit longer than the butane burner to reach pressure, but it worked like a charm.

Next, I decided to hook my Stuart 10v to my Jensen 25 boiler using one of Bruce's (St. Paul Steam) excellent supply valves. The little Jensen boiler managed to hit around 20 PSI and the Stuart ran very well. And very quietly. Although I don't show it in the video, the Stuart would nearly vibrate off my workbench if I opened the throttle fully. I'm a bit concerned with the leaks around the head. I tightened the nuts, which helped a bit, but the leaks persist. Does this need a head gasket? I'm new to the Stuart scene, so I'm not sure how to address this issue. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry to be so long-winded, but I'm so happy to be back in the shop. Enjoy the video!

Cheers, Tim
