I'm working on my 6+ year old Chiltern steam plant and in the process started to make a base for it. When I laid it out as a typical rectangle it seemed huge with large empty spaces. After a while I started working around the components and then rounding off the corners. Don't know that it's beautiful but it certainly is different.
