Bonjour John,

I have a dozen of these engines (see my Playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCVcZL8L7sBJ-ILRmMDuBQk9Jz-aOd-AE) and if I start a classification, my tiercé would currently be :

OKmomodel B01 :

Retrol & Musa HM-01 :

Enkomor MK3 :

Hi John, I strongly recommend the recently added B01 miniature of the 4 HP Ball Hopper Baker Monitor. I believe It is Jin's most refined model hit & miss engine. It has many good features and runs great right out of the box.

Another vote for the ball hopper Monitor here if you want an easy, ready to run piece. Very easy to carry around too unless you’re looking for something larger like a quarter scale?

If you go to Jim's YouTube channel, you can sort of shop for what you might like, as he has more than a few videos of some of them running. Doing so will likely also get you recommended links to other's channels that may show other engines running.

Some of the most recent releases are likely the more sophisticated and functionally pleasing engines but also tend to cost a bit more.

The route I took was to try and score engines that were listed at come-on prices and didn't get bid up to prohibitive levels but I have likely missed most of the better engines in doing so!

I could try to make a few recommendations for you, but my collection is somewhat limited, and I have no experience with what are likely some of the better engines.

It would be a bit like trying to pick out a girlfriend for you!?!?

Can I get some actual advice on a good engine?

I know it’s like I’m going to only have one cigarette.

If you believe just one, forget the hit and just give them a miss :)
Now that is sound advice 😊

If you were only planning on having one miniature Hit & Miss engine what would you pick?  I’m pondering getting one but hoping that I can stop at just one. I know you’re all laughing!
