I chuck the appropriate size axle in the lathe, place the "to be hubbed" pulley on the axle & use a drill with the proper tap, go 2 rounds. Done, 2 minutes total time.

Very nice mods Jim. interesting way you "hobbed" the knurling on the step pulley.

Thanks Bruce, I've done many drive pulleys now and made up about 7 jigs for different sized axles.
It works very well and very similar to what a Wilesco drive pulley looks like.
Here's a brass drive pulley I hobbed yesterday -

Rocking Whale RW-BL1K Miniature Steam Engine Plant with some modifications & running a Blue Thunder Generator & Light
Added a steam condensate catcher, two step hobbed aluminium drive pulley and a brass knob to the Stephenson Linkage handle.
