Nice buy!
I really like the look of the SE3 and have a mint example and one with a rusted away base that I want to put on wood like Rog did… just realized I’ve easily had them for 10 years and I don’t think I’ve ever fired an SE3! I really should change that :D
They run rather well for a single acting oscillator!
But then twins do tend to smooth out the power curve and often seem to have more power than twice that of a single cylinder of the same size because of it!!!

Nothing like New Old Stock, Congrats!

Saw what looked to be a really nice condition Mamod SE3 on evilbay recently, and being a sucker for twins I threw a fairly low bid at it. The SE3 is I believe my favorite Mamod engine so getting another one for my stable at a reasonable price, didn't seem like too bad of an idea.
Well, it arrived today and I must say I was rather taken aback. I just received what is most definitely a NEW in box and UNFIRED SE3!!!
Granted, it is not an older meths fired engine, but rather one of the more recent sold fuel models with the top lever whistle, but still, for a bit under $125 plus tax and S&H it is an absolute jewel of an engine with just a touch of dust. Box is even in really good shape with hardly any signs of shelf wear.
Don't know if I just used up all my good luck on scoring this, or if I should rush out and buy a lottery ticket in case my good luck holds?!?!
Perhaps not the same level of luck as our friend Mike the Junkologist recently had, but dang good luck all the same I'm thinkin'!
