Had a hiccup with this one....

On an attempted start-up, I believe I had pumped way too much fuel into the chamber and it hydro locked or fired too early destroying the connecting rod.

Today a new one arrived from Stirlingkit.

I will report on my repair and try to avoid this going forward.
So... new connecting rod, retard the injector timing a bit, and shorten the injector stroke.

Like most of these engines from china The design is very nice but they require some fine tuning which if you're into engines and mechanically inclined is actually a huge part of the experience!!!
Quite right!

Very nice diesel engine - much louder than steam of course.
I like it very much thanks for the video - but i am afraid
that I can not handle it - guess it needs some experience with
combustion engines. I think to buy first a Lister D model...

That model is certainly quite the BEAST, and when running, sounds as though it could power just about anything!

That's a nice looking engine but I for 1 wouldn't want the oily mess!!!
I'll be retarding the injector pump timing and a couple other adjustments that should quiet it down and make it run cleaner. There's a learning curve.

Here is my newly arrived diesel engine by Retrol.

I was warned in advance by our friend Miller that it is a messy piece of kit.

He wasn't exaggerating!

It spits plenty of unburnt fuel and enough smoke to cause trouble in my home so outside it is.

For fuel I mixed approximately 2/3 Kerosene, 1/3 diesel fuel, and a little Marvel Mystery Oil.

(Kerosene doesn't have enough lubricity but burns cleaner than diesel which has good lubricating qualities and MMO will provide more lubricity for the Kerosene and keep internals cleaner. Diesel also smokes more. I think I have a reasonably good balance.)

Enjoy,

Gil
