Looking at a Falk vs Wilesco, it appears that the valve cutoff ratios to be rather different. With the Falk being more miserly on steam consumption for efficiency versus the Wilesco for more power. I wonder if Falk did this since the Falk in question (an overtype) lacks a steam throttle?
Reading about expansion compound engines, one of the things that some manufacturers did was have 3 nearly the same size cylinders but treat the center cylinder as the high pressure cylinder and the 2 end cylinders as a combined low pressure cylinder.
What are the ratios typically between a high pressure and a low pressure cylinder?
