Title: Lil Brother engine help wanted
Post by: lodalodge on August 25, 2020, 11:32:57 am
Hi from BC Canada
I am looking for someone who has either an air cooled or water cooled Lil brother engine that would be able to send me some photos of the finished engine. I am about to start the build but due to dyslexia I have difficulty with using only flat plan drawings. thanks, in advance, for your help.

Hi Carson, I am not a builder or machinist but I am a pretty decent mechanic and collector. I have a Little Brother and would be happy to provide detailed photos if you think it would be helpful.

Gil

Also, George Britnell may be able to help guide you.

Here is a video of my Little Brother and it's little brother, the Little Little Brother by George Britnell.

Carson, I don't understand why you want me to contact you off site. You can also send me a message though out private message system.

Also I notice you have made the same request of people on other forums.

If you need pictures I can post them. Remember I am not a machinist.
I can confirm that the answer you got on HMEM is correct. The piston has 3 shallow oil grooves.
I had the piston out briefly a few years ago and that is my recollection. On HMEM, most of the members are machinists.

Hi Gil,
Not that it matters but it was not me that was questioning the oil groove issue.
I am of a certain age and lack a certain intellect that makes me pretty much computer illiterate. So when it comes to the process of communicating on these forums I am not very comfortable or successful. So I do really prefer the simplicity of direct email, so I apologize for my downfall in that area.
Yes I have made a request on one other forum and have met with some success, however due to my dyslexia I find I can never have too many photographs.
I thank you for the time and effort you have spent, to this point, trying to help out.

Cheers...Carson

Hi Carson. I understand. To start off, of which areas would you like to have the most detailed photographs? I will email some to you.

Hi Gil,
Great to hear from you.
I have watched a couple of your You Tube videos, informative and entertaining.
At your convenience if you can send me some close ups of the point block area, the cam/gear area and the governor linkage from both sides of the flywheel and a couple of overhead shots that would be great.
Thanks, in advance, for your time on this.

Carson
