Anyone know of engine shows in Michigan
Lansing Detroit or Kalamazoo area?

If you have not gone you go should to the N.A.M.E.S. show is taking place April 27-28, 2019
at the Yack Arena in Wyandotte, Michigan, USA.

Nick do you remember the pool they used to run boats in and in 1995 I bought
a Stuart 501 boiler . I think in 1993/4 I bought a S50 with instructions dated
November 1965.

Welcome.  I think you are looking for tractor and engine shows, in addition to the model shows.  Look up:

Click on Michigan and choose from the many GREAT SHOWS!  Mason, Buckley are 2 of the best for steam.  Be careful of the dates as some do not update as they should.  Contact me.
