Title: Bing 130/451
Post by: txlabman on April 16, 2019, 05:31:48 pm
This was an eBay purchase in 2017.  I paid $70 for this engine.  Burner was included.  I don't think the chimney is original, but I like the proportion.

I recently gave it a cleaning and oiling and replaced the burner wick.  Otherwise, it is as I received it.

This model has a reversing lever which allows it to run in both directions.  It self-started when tested on 5 psi of air and would self-start when I pulled the reversing lever while running on steam.  But, as you will see in the video, that was not the case when running it on steam.

The boiler filled at 110 cc's and I removed 30% of the water (so ran it on about 80 cc's).  I ran it for about 15 minutes and still had ~20cc remaining in the boiler.

The video was filmed with my DJI Osmo Pocket and the video includes a picture of my garage video studio right before the shoot.  I edit all my videos with MovieMaker on my iPad.  Limited functionality, but the editor is reliable and doesn't freeze up.

I hope you enjoy the video.

I didn't know that some Bings had a reverse lever.
Needs a load. Any Bing accessories to run?

I like the stamped boiler, very ornate. :)

Nice runner Charlie, your video quality is getting very good! I think I remember watching this one on ebay in 2017!

Chris, looks like you need to get on ebay and find yourself a reversing Bing  ;)  ;)

I actually have two of them.  The other one also has a lithographed base.  It is quite a bit smaller and is missing the steam line.  For now, I am just running it on air with some tubing.  Pictures to follow in a separate post.

Runs well, Charlie. I like those faux riveted fireboxes. An overtype of this vintage just sold on the bay.
Your new camera rig is tops. Thanks for the video!

Hi Charlie, it must have felt great to fire it up after it sitting since 2017.
It runs great and you did a great job on the video!
