The Stuart logo isn't particular well-done on the S50 so I would imagine the builder filed or milled it off.  Notice the cast-in bolt heads are gone as well, replaced with tapped holes and threaded lugs.  I did the same thing on my S50, but kept the logo.

I too have been bitten by this particular bug, too many times.
The only 'design' problem is the heater.  The bases are prone
to cracks and leak water when steaming.  They will run while
leaking underneath.  Just be careful.

The link below was the first you tube video I put up.
A KJ Miller trio running on air, taped by my missus.

The link below is for a video of three runs on steam, knitted together.

Just my two cents,

Most of my steam engine stuff is kept inside a glass curio so I get minimal dust tissues but I also dabble in O. scale model trains in the basement and the situation down there I use a small Industrial vacuum shop vac with a bristle brush and that tends to pull off any heavy dust on things without damage fragile parts!!!

Thank you for that wonderful video I especially like that very unique valve system on that engine Don't hesitate to make more videos we're all here as steam enthusiasts and would definitely enjoy more!!!

It's certainly quite a machine.

I'll put more videos once a week if everyone is happy. videos helps me sometimes when I have a new machine and I'm aiming to help others too, plus I enjoy it.

Technical Tips, Builds, and Help / Re: DK Products with stuck/frozen screw

Jim...don't hold your breath.  I'm not liking
the design.  The fancy 'direction changing' aspect
is an overdone waste.  And, it is recommended by DK
that if you are going to be running it much use air
to avoid over-working/ruining the heater element.
First time I saw a warning of that sort.

I am still fussing with the sightglass problem as it
is set up for that right now.

So.....I'll switch to soldering the boiler cap
on an early Empire B43 (hope my hands don't shake
too much) that leaks here/there all the way around.
The first owner must have cooked it early on because
it does not look like it was used much.  Oopsie, dead
engine, put it in the attic is what I think happened.

Well now, that was enjoyable!

Congratulations on getting the surprise of having an unexpected and pleasant run!!

Very interesting valving mechanism on that engine as it is actually set up like an oscillator, but has a moving valve plate that essentially does the oscillating allowing the cylinder to remain more or less stationary ..... cool!!!

I'm happy to share the link. I didn't want it to look like I was pushing my channel. It's a lovely little engine

It turned out out be a screw, or maybe someone previously tapped it. I have it running now and it runs lovely, the video is on Youtube. Thanks for the help guys.

A link to that video would be very helpful if you would care to provide it?!?!

I'm unsure if there was some specific period for this, or possibly a sub-contract for some job-lot type work, but I have also seen Stuart Beam Engines that are missing the Stuart logo on the base, so it isn't just your engine. Perhaps it is just a simple case of the foundrymen forgetting to emboss the sand mold with the logo before casting?
