I think that woutbe clumsy to use in practice? If you add a big log, a person drives along it to make short logs, but how do you lift the log of of dirt? Perhaps if a person added forks on the front end??

I donīt think they found it "clumsy" when compared to a manual saw, which most likely was the only other real option when this picture was taken, to cut down logs to fit in the sawmill.
