R.I.P. Don Favell
« on: June 09, 2021, 07:48:11 pm »
My good friend and model engineer extraordinaire, Don Favell, has passed away on May 21st at the age of 89.

He was an engineer, toolmaker and designer. He solved hundreds, perhaps thousands of mechanical engineering problems over the years.

While filled with grief, I did manage a few unscripted words at his memorial.

Mrs. Favell shared a few video clips with me from Don's memorial which I trimmed and edited together to make this video.

She speaks, then yours truly, followed by another gentleman and then his good friend Terry Van Winkle.

I'm sorry for the loss of one of your close friends Gil , those were nice heartfelt sentiments being expressed at the funeral. While I didnt really know Don , I did meet him once at the "after" cabin fever meal we attended. RIP Don

RIP Don. I had the pleasure to meet Don over many years at Cabin Fever while he was building his master piece Stephenson Rocket; watching him taking the time to show all the finest details of the model. Cabin Fever will never be the same without his presence & his exquisite models.

Don was a great man and an extraordinary engineer.

I am so grateful that I had the chance to meet him and break bread with him on several occasions.
