Since when do pinball machines need all that?

Kind of like asking when did cars need seat belts, a/c, auto windows , electric door locks, air bags and auto transmissions! Some people think they don't need any of those things- until they drive one.
My favorite feature of the newer pinball machines is the memory of high scores and the players initials. No more "embellishing", or scratching your score into the cabinet!
There are some great old games from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, nonetheless.
