Yes, it is fitting that we remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the freedom, liberty, and way of life that we in the United States enjoy. Since we won our independence in 1783, approximately 650,00O have died in combat, and another 540,000 are estimated to have died in non-combat roles. During the revolutionary war 6,800 died in battle and another 63,000 died for other reasons. Collectively, we owe a debt of gratitude.
