The Camera (Nikon D750) plus many accessories has arrived, and though I haven't much of a clue how to operate it yet, having not read Nikon's 538 page "User's Manual", or even owning one yet, I have set about firing off a few shots to make sure the thing even works, and more especially can be made to work with my old Nikkor AI lenses.
The short answer to the above questions is a resounding YES!!!
The camera arrived looking even better than the photos of it from the on-line listing. It actually would have passed for new and unused as I could find no scuffs, scratches and scrapes nor even any slight wear to the buttons, dials, levers or their markings. The lenses that did come with it do look to have been used some, but rather minimally, so perhaps not even used on this body!?!?
Now I must warn you to NOT expect quality photography, but for right out of the gate with something that is clearly way beyond my "snapshot" mentality and capability (way above my paygrade as it were), I am duly impressed.
My main concerns were if the camera would actually work, which it does, though I'm sure I'm a long way from testing all its systems and capabilities, and also of concern was just how many "miles" it might already have on it, so with one of the first photos I took, I did the shutter count test.
The shutter count on this unit is just under 8500, or it was until I got my hands on it anyway, and that count is a mere nothing as these things go. Heck, I'd have been just fine with ten times that shutter count! I've taken about 100 photos now, and almost surprisingly, most of them have come out okay, though in testing most of my old lenses that don't "talk" to this camera body as the new lenses do, I have some pretty dark exposures on a few. Probably just a matter of learning where to look, and what data sets to look for in the viewfinder, to determine what adjustments I need to make to get good exposures with my old lenses. The newer lenses that came with it, seem to do all that just fine without me having to do or know anything, or so it has seemed thus far!
Attached photos as follows:
1) First photo I have taken with this new (used) to me Nikon D750 (photo taken somewhat into the sun)
2) First Macro photo taken (should have used a tripod)
3) First photo taken with my old Nikkor 200 mm AI lens (pointed even more into the sun, but with more cloud cover too)
4) First photo taken with my old Nikkor 200 mm AI lens with a 2x tele-converter, so approximately 400 mm equivalent (again should have used a tripod)
But then again these were just quicky grab shots to see if any of it worked and if I could make it work ... which it did, so ....... Yipeeeeee and Yahooooo!!!
I think it is safe to say that I am somewhere beyond simply ecstatic!!!
Seems it is not going to allow me to attach any photos, for reasons unknown to me, but could be something to do with file size, so I may try again later if I find what's at issue, or if I come upon some revelation and learn something new?!?!
