This is unbelievable to me.

I discovered it this evening and learned it was only added in the last week.

It looks like YT (Google) is getting set to allow anyone to use snippets of our copyrighted material.

I unchecked it and save the change.
Then went to my next video.... unchecked and saved again.
It seems they are on all my recent videos. This was not there when I uploaded all but this evenings offering.
However..... there is no way possible (unless I missed something) to turn off this option in bulk across your channel.
You must access each video's editing page,
scroll down to the bottom,
Select "more" or "show more"
Then scroll towards the bottom again to find it.

In fact.... It is activated on all of my 1,077 videos all the way back to 2006!

Here is a snip off my first Youtube video (2006) editing page.

I looked around and found this video talking about the issue.

I tried to see if there was an easier way to do this, but it looks like it’s one video at a time as you said... I sorted my videos by most viewed and started working my way down the list as those would most likely be “stolen” first. In the time that I have been monetized, I have found 7 of my videos being used by others and have had them all taken down by youtube.

Its pretty shitfull, people have been making a lot of money from snippets of peoples uploaded videos for a long time and doing voice over on them on YT.

But now it looks like its not only ok, but fully condoned and a 'thing' now.

I just turned off this feature in my oldest video.
Will there be any repercussions?  We'll see.

YouTube recently threw me out of the Partnership Program. They said my videos didn’t meet their standards so all my monetizing is gone. I guess my videos weren’t fancy enough or making them enough money. They never gave me a good reason for doing what they did. I would think the little bit that my videos made would be better than nothing at all. I’m done with YouTube.

^^^He mentions that the guy who stole his video flipped the image left to right to avoid being picked up by the computers that detect copyright. I found one of mine that youtube didn’t catch where they zoomed in on my video enough to get rid of my copyright watermark. I commented on the video asking them to remove it, but never received a reply. I then submitted it to youtube for removal and they took it down for me.

Just came across one of my videos being used a month before you started this thread. Not exactly a steam engine 😂

I doubt I can report this video to youtube as I never made it through checking that box in all my videos and this one was still available for “sampling” until today

There is fair use and then there is stealing. Clearly Nick's stolen clip wasn't done for art and fair use. Although I'm not a lawyer.
