Oh yeah, the whip finish. It's also used on old hickory shafted golf clubs. To finish tying
fly's and to wrap guides on fishing poles and fly rods. I never thought of lagging steam
lines.

It is the system I use and then paint them white. It does work you can just about keep you finger on the lagging when the pipe has steam in it.

Regarding steam line lagging. Has anyone tried using
cotton cord, say 1/8" (sash cord), as lagging? It does
insulate ....some. I did cover it with aluminum sticky
tape.
So, I'd like some lagging that works a bit better without
looking fat and out-of-proportion when on these steam lines.
