Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley.

Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley.

I've always wanted to work out a way to put some extra grip on a home made drive pulley to prevent or cut down on belt slippage. It would be nice to have the tooling that Wilesco use on their grooved pulleys.

I had a Dremel saw accessory that the outer plastic shell  broke and I thought what can I do with the saw blade.

I wonder if the burrs you raised might eat the belting. Perhaps just a bit of smoothing out of the sharp tops of those new burrs, so there is still a gripping texture, but without the truly sharp little burr edges?

Not sure, they aren't all that sharp, just feel really grippy. Be interesting to see how it goes with some green belting over an hour or so.

Be a couple of days till I get to try that as its late Friday arvo here and my weekend is pretty booked.

Most likely will be just fine the way it is, but I can visualize some micro burr edges snagging at the belting and plucking micro pieces out. Probably just an overactive imagination on my part .... hope it works splendid for you mate!

No, its a very valid point Daniel. I'm wondering as well. I think Nick's new supplier of the belting that he's gotten onto would stand up to it.
My DIY trip hammer is a really hard to run because of the major slippage. I'm going to test that first to see how it goes.
