I have been working on a 1/3 scale of a 1/2 hp new holland hit/ miss engine that someone else started, and need some help. I finally got the valves lapped in and no leaks under compression. However, where you would normally make the valve guide with .001 clearance with the valve stem, this engine has a very sloppy .015 clearance. It's not a problem under compression with the valve closed, but I'm wondering if the sloppy clearance will cause air to be sucked in when the valve opens to draw in fuel, preventing it from drawing fuel. I may have to make a bushing to press into the oversized valve guide and probably a new valve as well, but hope someone more knowledgeable might have an answer.
Thanks in advance for your help.
