Huxtable Hot Air Engine
« on: September 16, 2020, 12:14:03 am »
Huxtable Hot Air Engine by Olds Engineering Maryborough Queensland Australia, finally finished the hardwood plinth, making the Bix burner holder with 10mm steel heatsink, brass thumbscrews, brass bolts, brass washers and other accoutrements to make the engine look like a showpiece on its plinth. Just a wonderful running hot air engine, quiet powerful and very very smooth.
Engine features-
Removable Brass Cylinder
1" (25.4 mm) bore and stroke
Ball bearing mounted crankshaft
5˝" (140 mm) diameter cast iron flywheel
Cast aluminium base

Very nicely executed display there Jim, & she runs a treat. I looked these up & it appears they are still in business.  😊👍

Thanks guys,  I've had some phone calls and a lot of emails back and forth with Robert Olds who has sent me a lot of historical information, very interesting reading about Robert Huxtable from the USA and his visits to Australia and the Curved Dash Oldsmobile carburettors that Olds Engineering are still making today in Queensland.

If anyone is interested, I can email the info to you.

Your modifications/enhancements are well executed Jim.

I really liked your solution for the burner holder.

And, a wonderful job on the video (the icing on the cake).

Great to see you in a position to work on projects again. Good for the Soul.

Cheers,
Charlie
