Mercer Traction Engine.
« on: November 11, 2022, 03:56:30 am »
Hi,

Over some months now one day a week a friend has brought his Mercer traction engine to have help modifying it to a showman's engine.  It has been quite a lot of work first to get it to work, then the modifications, it is on the home straight now just the fitting a boiler top up valve in the belly tank to finish.  It runs quite well though there is a bit of a bend in the crankshaft and as there aren't any spares available and as it works, rather than make a new crankshaft the owner is going to live with it.  A bit of a video at: https://youtu.be/ShSXcuXePHg

Take care Tony.
