Hybrid Plant - Demo (final version)
« on: June 12, 2024, 11:16:23 am »
I can say now that this puppy is now fully completed. I wasn’t happy until I got everything right.  Made further adjustments and fixed small leaks.

Features of this plant:

PM research pipework & fittings (customized)
Jensen 75 windowed boiler
OzSteamDemon chuff pot / condenser
Stuart S-50 with gunmetal (rebuilt & polished)
Microcosm P60 Flyball governor intertwined with PMR pipes
Aluminum governor pulley + accessory pulley.
Stained & Sealed walnut plinth
Custom blowdown port with PMR globe Valve & custom boiler siphon.
Raised PMR whistle adjusted for optimum sound
Gas burner firebox featuring BIX system
Pressure gauge customized by SPS for use with Jensen boilers

All that is left is if I decided to add insulation on the steam pipes to help keep the steam hot.

I’d imagine it helps a bit with power, as the steam will hold more heat?

With the amount of exposed steam line you have, I would say you could be losing heat.
Does it really matter? That I suppose is the question.

Here's some lines that I have lagged -

I suppose if it helped enough I got more boiler time, it would.   Upon starting I get a lot of liquid water into the condenser but then it clears up pretty quick.  And obviously the whistle spews out quite a bit too, until it heats up.
