Do you have any photos of a complete engine? It would be nice to look into recreating the sight glass that has obviously been soldered off on that one, as long as you have to pull the end caps off the boiler to re-gasket anyway.

Don't believe I've ever seen a staybolted together boiler such as that before!?!?
