Weeden No. 664 Steam-Up
« on: September 01, 2019, 09:20:56 pm »
The Weeden No. 664 is an electrically heated version of the Weeden No. 157, introduced in 1927 and produced until mid 1930's. It has a 5 1/4" heavy iron square base and stands 13 1/2" high.  The boiler is steel; so, few of these have survived in working condition.

When originally tested on air it ran great in both directions on 3 psi. As can be seen in the video, the engine required liberal doses of steam oil to get it to run.

For safety, I added a modern Weeden Safety Valve in place of the fill plug for the Steam-Up.

Charlie, It may be a slow runner but it runs great the way it is.

Great video of an engine I have not seen before. And such a heavy duty base from the average Weeden... boiler almost looks too small compared to the "firebox" and base

Thanks Nick and Carl.

I got it all cleaned up this morning.

Let it bake in the 100 degree heat here for two days to get it dried out well. 🤠
