Woe is me steaming his Carette
« on: February 13, 2021, 04:29:24 pm »
This is the first time it has been under steam in over a decade. Video is short because of boiler
issues. The leak can be seen by the boilers back end. Does any one know who can do a proper fix
and keep it looking good? Hope you enjoy.

Beautiful engine and a great runner Tommy, one of those engines that its easy to whilst away some time just watching it run.

Hope someone can help you with a fix, its out of my league.

Thanks Jim, I tried the super glue twice and that's how many times it didn't work. I hate when that happens!

I had to watch it a couple of times to see what leak you were taking about Tom, then I finally saw a trickle coming from about the 3 o'clock position ? You have a fellow right there in MI. That has offered his help in the past...was it George Brittnel  ? Anyway , wonderful engine .

that can be soldered - first clean it with a steel needle -
then use flux, solder and a very small, sharp flame just to that spot.
This is how a fix every boiler without damage to the
blueing or patina - needs some practice. Overall the little lost
of some drops is not too bad - you may also leave it like it is.

This is my special secret for small leaks like you have there (don’t tell everyone)
Choose your poison; run the engine a few times and rinse it out well and Bob is your uncle.
