Empire no. 43 "SOLD"
« on: April 22, 2024, 11:46:51 am »
I bought this on eBay a few months ago for $150 with shipping.  It is in great condition and has no leaks, aside from the cylinder condensing water and spewing out as normal.  Whistle is LOUD and fully functional.

I am not a fan of Empire engines. I am more of a Stuart, Doll, and Jensen guy. So I am using the funds from this engine for other stuff.  I had fun with it but I’m going to sell ‘er.

Comes as is, with the cord included.  Sight glass works and doesn’t leak either.  Heats up FAST!

I figured I’d post it here before I list elsewhere.

Asking $150 which includes shipping.  UPS ground will be shipping choice.

Very clean #43 hope it goes to a good home!

Just wondering, is that a later one, with the oval UL cover on bottom side or still just the simple nuts keeping it together?

Does this help?

Yes, the oval base at the bottom, later model towards the end of their engines.  Thank you, curiosity satisfied ;-)

Does this make it more or less sought after?

I suppose it depends on what you are tying to acquire in your collection.  If I didn't have this one, I'd likely be making you a offer (we all like a good deal, right?).  But if I was just trying to get a model or two, I'd likely be looking for a pre-50s Empire.  I'd image most members here know I have a soft spot for Empires (and that's putting it lightly) and I nearly have the whole line of their Steam Engine/Accessory line.  In my collection the later #43 is my least favorite as the quality and craftsmanship isn't near a pre-50s B-43 / B-30 / etc.  That is just my opinion and that didn't stop me from getting a #43 like yours in my collection :-)

The #43 with UL Oval bottom I have came with the Empire paper tag and it is only slightly in better shape (no dents) than yours.

That is cool!!   It’s not that I dislike empire engines they’re just not my favorite.  We all have favorites, I suppose.   None the less they’re good engines and run good if they were taken care of.
