Take my Esbit, please
« on: March 09, 2019, 07:32:57 am »
To celebrate our new model steam forum, I'm offering the following Esbit-fired engines and sealed fuel (1/2 a dozen or so boxes), shipped within the continental U.S. only. My treat (i.e., free to the first steamer who responds). All ran fine the last time I fired them. The new owner agrees to give them a good home and make a financial contribution to the Office of Steam Forum in an amount they feel is appropriate. No other catch. I can use the storage space for my model railroading projects and have lost interest in stationary engines (though keeping a gas-fired and an electric, just in case... ;))

First to respond, first-served. I'll post again when someone makes a claim.

Pics here (everything pictured is included):

Mamod SL3 locomotive:
Run extensively and has considerable scorching on the boiler. Missing firebox door handle (so exhaust leaks out). Runs 5-7 min on 2.5 tablets. I removed the whistle (included) and used a plug from another engine (not included).

Mamod MM2:
Some cosmetic issues. Runs great using a Mamod steam car burner (included).

Mamod MM1:
Cosmetic issues and a solder repair (not mine) on the steam pipe leading from the boiler that didn't leak when I ran it. No burner. I flattened the spirit burner holder tabs so that I could use the KMV burner (worked fine).

KMV engine house:
Previously owned by Oz Steam Demon. Paint doesn't hold up well to wiping down. No other issues. Fun to watch.

Very generous Dave! I would love to take you up on the offer, mostly for the Esbit and the KMV, but I will let someone else have a chance at this.  8)

Cool offer. I will let another pounce. That KMV engine house is pretty neat. Any more information about it?

I don't like Esbit either. Prefer alcohol gel. Starting to make gel burners.

Dave, if no one else grabs the KMV, I would happily lay claim to it.  I have plenty of Esbit, so just the engine.  BUT, if we have a newbie who really needs the KMV, by all means pass to him or her.

Would you consider shipping the loco to the UK ( under guise of coming here for repair to avoid HMRC)

If quote is good happy to pay?
