Just Completed Project....
« on: January 28, 2020, 09:46:37 pm »
Here sharing some photos of a little steam plant that I originally acquired as a set of loose parts, it didn't need much attention aside from assembly and mounting on a sturdy base. All components were very well made, but hardly used at all.

Includes a PMR boiler, Maacsteam gas tank and burner, and a Graham Industries VR1A engine. I have another engine just like it, that I built from a kit many years ago, but never ran on steam. This one really hums, and (unlike my build), reverses perfectly on the fly. Still need to fine-tine the fittings a bit to eliminate some minor leaks, but otherwise it is a nice runner already.

I have set it up so that the piping can be quickly changed, to allow it to be used as a free-standing boiler to run other engines. The VR1A pivots (unattached) on a single large peg below the mount.

Have really enjoyed the coverage of the Cabin Fever meet, would love to attend some day! [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

That's a nice little plant. I'd like to have a good PMR boiler.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.

That looks like a nice setup especially with the PMR boiler able to detach - good work.

Awesome set-up.

Have you steamed it?

Only once so far, runs strong, I need to do a bit of tightening on the steam pipe to eliminate some small leaks.
