That's certainly a cool looking dynamo.

I gather it can be used as either a motor or a generator?

Is that a cast lead pulley wheel like so many Weeden products have?

That is a beautiful little thingie that one :)

I believe that this one is exclusively a motor, since it doesn´t appear to have permanent magnets.
Cheers

I agree with Jan; it's a motor. Nice one, too.

It is definitely a motor.

Weeden Made 15 different electric motors.

Weeden No. 1; 101; 102; 103; 104; 105; 106; 107; 109; 110; 111; 112; 112-114; and 117.

I believe that this one is a Weeden No. 101 (the replacement for the Weeden No. 1).  It was produced from 1912-1918.  Flywheel is 2 1/2" in diamater, base is 6" x 4".

See the attached description from Ken Trobaugh's Weeden Book.

Not a lot of Weeden Motors around on the forums, though I suppose because they aren't steam engines.  I have a Weeden #1, as you guys may recall, with its wood box.  I love my little #1 that's for sure.

Anyways, I just won a Weeden No. 112 Motor on eBay that is in pretty good shape.  I'd image with it having all its little pulleys, that makes it a bit rarer.  I don't actually expect it to be all that powerful and having all those pulleys has to be overkill.  I saw that @Jim has a #106, which is a superior motor over the #112 (which is like my #1 motor but with overhead pulleys).

Anyways, here is a photo of the #112 from the eBay sell and I look forward to getting a YouTube up for it!
