Very nice Randy, thanks for sharing !

Regarding age i was pretty close then, since the cast iron base genny, according to much more knowledgeable people than i, was decommisioned in 1979.

Will have to ask Steven "Griffin" and Andrew "Scalex for details of theirs, to see if more variations is out there.
Cheers

A beautiful steam plant Jan, it’s great to hear fellow steamers helping each other out.
Keep on steaming

Trying to figure out what Jensen done is part of the fun of collecting them. Just when you think you got it figured out you find something different. I have only seen 2 with the stuffing box , cap, and 4 screws in the side of steam chest. I'm sure there is probably more out there. Kinda strange that both are 20s with generators hooked to them. Wonder if he was trying to seal them up better to get more power from them to pull generator better.

Steven has replied to me via PM, and will share some detail pics of his at some point.
He has two of these, one with cast iron and one with the early teal painted stamped aluminum generator, will be fun to see if they´re different to ours here

Fingers crossed Andrew will do the same, once i get hold of him, as he (appearently) has two as well.
Cheers

As requested, I have finally got around to posting some photo's of the two #20's I have that are fitted with the stuffing box type valve.

First up is a power plant that is of 1986 vintage. You will notice that this one is fitted with two screws, and two rivets in the side of the valve chest, and the "O" ring gland in the valve stem.

The second #20 is also a power plant, and is of 1985 vintage. This engine was once a resident of the Temple of Steam.
You will notice that this engine is fitted with four screws in the side of the valve chest, and has the same "O" ring gland in the valve stem as the previous engine.

I am sure this will all add to the mytery of the Jensen #20 steam chest design.

Thanks. Now I can prove the one that I've got isn't modified. I've had couple people telling me it had been modified and wasn't factory built that way.
