These engines are worthy of display and possible discussion even if they don't, by luck of the draw, make it into the present monthly contest. We are interested in your thoughts beyond the yes or no answer if you would care to add them here.

I've already PM'd you my thoughts on the matter.

I'll go on public record saying NO, for the reasons I previously expressed.

Hmmmm, seems the original posting has added the request for reasons, .... so I'd best express mine as previously shared with Gil.

First, I think it would add some confusion and distraction to the process, and thus unfairly detract from the five official contestants.

I also see some potential for increased disappointment/resentment for entries that didn't make the draw.

It is possible that some worthy candidates that didn't make the draw this month, might not make the draw next month either, or the month after that and after that and after that, which would just increase the potential issues as noted in the line above. It is just the luck of the draw afterall.

It seems to me that most of the entries that don't get drawn, are likely to get put back into the hat in the following months, and so it seems that showing all the entries that didn't make it this month, would "pre-prejudice" the contests in the months to come.

I rather like being "surprised" upon opening the poll, by what's on offer for the month in question, without foreknowledge of what's likely to be there.

Anyone who wants to post up images of their non-drawn entries, are of course free to do so, thus we don't really need to do it for them, and some may actually prefer to remain under the radar until their time in the sun comes!?!?

If anything else comes to mind, I'll add it onto this list.

"Information is not knowledge, Knowledge is not wisdom, Wisdom is not truth, Truth is not beauty, Beauty is not love, Love is not music: Music is THE BEST...
Wisdom is the domain of the Wis (which is extinct). Beauty is a French phonetic corruption of a short cloth neck ornament currently in resurgence..."

NO from me - I think it will take away the surprise and anticipation if shown in advance.

Stoker puts it over well.

I spent a lot of time trying to get the perfect picture (took 58 in fact), so I would like mine to stay hidden and be thrown in the hat again  ;)

I also have mixed feelings, Daniel makes a good argument and has good points on the subject, getting to the final five is the "luck of the draw", it could have been a wilesco D3 make it to the final five I suppose. there's bound to be an entrant that would have been a favorite amongst others that didn't make it to the final five, so I'm all for keeping them undisclosed. 😉

Nick, I was one of 2 here who saw your picture and it is special! Simone was hoping she would pull it in the draw. It shall remain hidden and will go back in the hat.

I have to say I really do like the hat drawing, brings back good memories of how it should be done  ;)

It is abundantly clear the direction this poll has taken. We clearly have no good reason to show entries remaining unselected for our poll due to luck of the draw. We would like them back in a future poll without forcing a tip of their hand. I will still let this poll run for the 10 days I put it up for and I expect no change in direction.
