Early Marklin Motor
« on: January 20, 2021, 06:48:57 pm »
This was a recent Ebay purchase.  It was advertised as a Marklin motor, which I believe is accurate, but I would be happy to have someone identify it, perhaps with a date of manufacture, as well.  A few drops of oil and a six volt power supply, and it took right off running.  My guess would be that this motor is around 100 years old, give or take a decade.

Hi Doug,
That's a great little motor! It took some searching but found this in a 1912 Marklin catalog reprint. Yours looks like model no. 3286 which was offered in two sizes. Compare the catalog dimensions with yours. Where do you get a neat little power supply like in your video?

Just noticed 3286 is 110 or 220V AC, so yours may be a version of the one above it. Not all sizes and variations are pictured in these catalogs, unfortunately.

Thanks for the info. My son had one of these power supplies on his workbench and i had to have one! It has handled running all my early motors including the  big K&D motors.
