Steam Days
« on: July 09, 2021, 02:56:07 pm »
Hello Guys and Girls,

It's summer and the number of new posts in this forum (and not only in this forum) is holding back. Therefore, I would like to bring you a small museum in the for almost all of you "far, far away Germany" closer. It is the "Dampf-Land-Leute Museum", not far from my hometown.

https://www.museum-eslohe.de/

The pictures were taken in 2019, on the occasion of the steam days that take place twice a year. The organizer had taken great pains and engaged a group of steampunkers as a side program. Unfortunately, it only rained on the two days of the event and only a few visitors came. My grandson, my sons and I had a lot of fun anyway.

Last year and this year the events unfortunately could not take place because of the Covid19 restrictions. There is a glimmer of hope that the event can be held this fall after all. Until then, only the pictures remain. Or a visit to the museum, which has recently become possible again under certain conditions.

Enjoy the pictures.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Love steam engines, especially older German made.  Love the more clockwork style.  Addicted to this stuff!

Very interesting Jürgen, thanks for sharing!

Eventhough i mainly roam the Northern parts of Germany when visiting, as the border merely is a 3 hour drive away from me, i have considered "diving deeper" for more exploration.
This place definitely will be kept in mind as a point of interest...especially after seing that is as close to Lüdenscheid as it is, could be a fine chance to kill two birds with one stone :)
Cheers

Thank you for your words of praise and interest in my post.

@Jan
If you ever actually make that long drive, you are welcome to join me. The ride from Lüdenscheid to Eslohe will take you directly through Lennestadt. By the way, in Siuerland (Sauerland) there is more old technology to see besides the old steam technology. The Siuerland is an old "iron country" in which small iron hammers (manufactures) have settled at the small rivers already in the 16th and 17th century. They exploited the water power very early. In my hometown Saalhausen alone, a district of Lennestadt, 3 iron hammers are attested.

I'm sorry Jurgen, I just saw this posting and checked it out today several
times.
Thanks for posting it, I'll be keeping an eye out for it. This is one of
those things to be put on my bucket list. Just another reason to see that
part of the world.
