On Friday a group of 12 led by Robert Lefever from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania came to the new Office of Steam for a tour.
First they took us out for a nice dinner after checking into the Day's Inn about a mile from our home in Torrington.

Early Saturday we all drove to Massachusetts to the Whately Engine Museum for the annual gas and steam engine show.
We all returned to Torrington Saturday night.

Sunday morning we went to Dudley Diebold's Topland Farms Living History Museum.
Here Dudley graciously gave us all a private tour of his tractor collection which may be about the most extensive in the country and definitely the most extensive I have seen. We went through 5 of these huge buildings.

In the coming posts you will see 100 or more of the photos I took today.
I have reduced the file size on all to what I hope will be kind to your bandwidth.

Enjoy!

Gil

The New Huber is the only steam traction engine I have seen with a return flue boiler.
I had the opportunity to drive it at one of the shows at this farm.

The only way you can see where your front wheels are pointing and rolling is by leaning your head well to the right of the steering wheel right over the right drive wheel. There is a very small field of view over the drive wheel and under the flywheel. (not a great design) Otherwise there is a lot of boiler, engine and smokestack in your face.

Here are the lucky folks (all but 2 of them) who were graced with an amazing private showing.

I am far right back row and Dudley is 2 to the right of me.

Thank you, Dudley, for a fantastic day!

I don’t even know which one to comment on… so many dream tractors in one place 😍

Where was the newly purchased Case 30-60? Or does that have its own shed?

Thank you for the picture tour. I've been to antique tractor shows, but here I've seen makes and models I didn't know existed.
Give us this day our daily Steam
And deliver us from Diesels
