Not sure, just how this will progress.
 As all the earlier pics are on p-bucket, and need an add on, to be viewed.

I have been reminiscing recently. Delving into the past years since I retired, and set up my little workshop.

Great stuff!

I loveMia’s Finger Engine.

You also did a very nice job on the Hot Air Engine. I love the Green Color.

 Thank you, both!

Unfortunately, the green one was not mine. It was on Ebay, at the same time as I was fumbling. I couldn't believe tha price paid!  :o

Mine, went back to it's previous owner, in Scotland. Who eventually moved it on, again.
 I call it the Cosmic Engine Supply System. They come They go. Countrywide. Worldwide.

I will be showing several more. Some I still have. Most, I have swapped for other orphans to resuscitate...  ;)

I like that finger motor, it has those finger spinners all beat. That was a great story about  your grand daughter.
Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water, she remembered.

She's 10yrs old, now.
Reminds me every time I'm packing for a show. "Don't forget my engine, for the boys and girls to play with". Bless her!

Girls, seem much more intrigued than boys......




Only had the one accident.
 When one little madam snatched it off the table. And, dropped it. Bending one of the cranks....  >:(

This engine is still with me. Still doing it's job, 6 hours or so, every show day.

I call it, Gold Blend.... It's a coffee jar engine.  ;)




Made from mostly, household components.
 Coffee storage jar, dog's feeding bowl, wooden chopping board, omelette pan, Land Rover heater pipe.

The original balsa wood displacer, has now been replaced by a Lyles golden syrup tin. It is now meths fired.

I have to agree, that last one looks totally like it was a commercial production .... NICE!

Very interesting and eclectic start, I'll look back soon hoping for more!!!

Please  remember, I have no real archives. Only the wreckage left after the p-bucket fiasco.
 I'm so pleased, I have my previous build posts to look back on.

This is Metisse. (As it arrived). Came to me as a swap, for a Solar 1 hot air engine....

Hi David, I just read over your thread madmodder.net/index.php/topic,9661.0.html
and the performance increases achieved are quite impressive. It looks a lot better, too!


I am wondering what oil you use on this and some small Stirling Cycle engines where you might not use graphite. I have found on some of my least powerful engines, a 50/50 mix of naphtha and synthetic clock oil helps by thinning the oil to where it is less of a drag on friction bearing surfaces.
