The Swiss Steam Roller Club has invited his members for an operator training day. Half of the day was
a lot of theoretical informations - after lunch we had the oppertunity to fire up a newly restored Aveling & Porter
steam roller from 1924. This massive piece of iron weights 13 tons and is driven by a compound engine.
A nice rampant horse as logo is sitting in the front with the scrit of "Invicta". I was very suprised that the
max. speed is only about 10 km/hour - but with that speed it makes a lot of noise and it is a bit scary to watch
at the fast rotating crankshaft. Working pressure was always arround 12 Bars - feeding by plunger pump and
injector. I learned a lot about mobile steam engines and having a good fire in place.
