8 mm deep socket in 3/8" drive for M90 Hit & Miss engine
« on: June 26, 2019, 06:32:50 pm »
I saw a post by Gil regarding the size of the socket needed to remove the spark plug of one of Jin Machine's M90 hit and miss engines.  Since I did not have that socket and figure eventually I will want to remove the spark plug...I ordered one off Amazon for the princely sum of $3.44 USD including free one day shipping.  It arrived today and fits perfectly.

How can you beat that price vs. breaking the plug using an ill fitting wrench?

I actually have a metric set of 1/4inch drive deepwells but I am thinking my glow plug wrench I used on the rc helis may work when I change a plug.

Ironically, I used that socket today to clean a fouled plug...works like a charm!  AND, engine roared to life again after the cleaning.

Does this also fit the plug on the M91?

Yes - same plug.  They are identical.

Price has gone up with Amazon Dynamic Pricing as a result of others ordering. Now $7.98. 🤮

I found the socket fits the M91 plug when plug is out of the engine...but barely fits due to touching other metallic parts of the head...might grind the socket's exterior down a bit to try for a better fit.

Rog

ps...Amazon pricing is kind of amazing...sometimes it goes up or down for reasons unknown...glad I grabbed one at the low point
