X rings in a china hit and miss engine??
« on: March 06, 2022, 10:39:20 pm »
Anyone try x rings in there hit and miss engine from China?
I was reading about the claimed advantage over o-rings and it sounds good.

-lower drag

- good high speed performance

- not prone to twist issues

- less compression force needed to create a seal

-excellent in reciprocating applications

Low drag is of special interest to me, it may allow our engines to coast longer in the "miss" stage.

I need new/better o-rings in my Enjomor engine, when I determine the size I hope to place an order for x rings as well as o-rings and plan to do a test, might be fun!

Photo is what the cross section of an x ring looks like, they put the parting line down in the groove so the lobes offer more perfect seal in theory.

Hey Shade-T,....Did you ever tryout the H rings ?? ....Seems like a good O-ring improvement concept...Lower friction & better seal...Do they  come in size for the M-90 gas engine series series ??..Thx for posting,.....tom

Bonjour,
If I am right, the O'rings used in our little engines have a diameter of 2 cm and a thickness of 1 mm.

Do the X rings exist in these dimensions because what I I read was about motorcycle chains?

Hello!, I have not found an exact X-ring replacement as of yet. There are a few that are close but not correct, thanks for asking.
