removing exhaust hit & miss

ive seen a few articles showing a different exhaust fitted to the horizontal hit & miss engine

how do I remove the standard exhaust

It is threaded, so it is just a matter of unscrewing it from the head

Suggest an allen key or small screw driver in exhaust port if threads are tight

Frank, if you are referring to the model hit and miss engines coming from Microcosm in China...to remove the exhaust, just grab it tightly and turn counterclockwise...it will easily unscrew.

Thanks for the replies
Yesterday I tried to unscrew it but nothing seemed to be happening so after reading your replies I had another go today it seemed nothing was happening
then it started coming out & with a few more turns it dropped out BUT the muffler is not screwed in only push fit !!!
So if I want to fit another type i,m going to have to tap a thread      are all the machines like this or have I got an odd one

I simply assumed that you was referring to the Chinese M90 horisontal hit and miss engine?

If so, is yours one of the early blue anodized versions, or the later silver/aluminum coloured version?

Mine here is one of the later, and they´re threaded (or at least mine and all others i´ve seen is).

Mine is a silver model but has no hole in the water tank at the bottom like others I have seen

perhaps there are different assembler business people who do it differently

Mine starts easily on normal petrol & runs well so I cant complain

Hello Franck.
I have both models
The M90 silver The exhaust is screwed M 6x0.75
and the first model that's blue, the exhaust is mounted by force 6mm
