These love running on 12 volts.

I have one and only use 12 volts.
Alarm back-up and computer back up 12 volt batteries are just right for this.
If you have any trouble with that coil, Debolt has a low tension coil they offer and it is like the one they used on the factory built Vaughn models.
What is the serial number on yours. The factory builds had a serial number in the 1,000's range. The mechanics kits (machined kits) all had numbers in the 2000's and the raw casting kits all had numbers in the 3,000's. I believe there are no more than 200 and perhaps just 160 to 180 of these (all three options included).

They will also usually run on a pair of 9 volt transistor radio batteries wired in parallel.

Once you get it warmed up you can adjust it to run real slow.

Congrats..!!!

here is what i use for a coil -they work great and are cheap-but they don't look as cool as the debolt ones. It is just a old time flourescent light ballast.
