The 'Proprietor'...
Probably owns the building.
Probably doesn't care to make money.
Probably doesn't need money.
Probably doesn't need people.
Probably, all the steam treasures are bound for auction.

Perhaps sitting in a shop cluttered with wonderful "treasures" that are seriously overpriced and unlikely to sell, IS this man's "hobby", and he really doesn't like "customers" coming in and bothering him while he is enjoying his hobby?!?!
