Empire B31 and B40 (B50) morning run-for-fun
« on: November 27, 2024, 02:39:11 pm »
  Just received a B43 and the pump, a B40 (B50), from
ebay.  The engine needed a S/V gasket, but other than
that it was ready to go.

As to testing the pump with the B31.  A little oil then
plugged in and a few minutes later it started up.  The pump
works pretty well.  I've had a windmill w/pump for a while
but I wanted the pump by itself for its small footprint.

Happy steaming,
Wayne

That certainly makes for a nice pairing.

Think I was watching that eBay B43 combo, but missed getting online in time to bid.

Glad it went to a good home!

nice combo Wayne, I was given a tip about using baby oil instead of water in the Empire pumps & it has worked great ever since, flows like water, looks like water, & actually lubricates instead of promoting rust in the pump. if you dont get all the baby oil out....no harm, it's a rust inhibiter.

Thanks to my steamer friends for the kind comments.

I find running them, when they run as they should, to be restorative.
Empires are pretty reliable and being electric are a piece-of-cake to
run, as long as you do not run the water too low.

There are two Empire engines I desire and will be true keepers, namely
the B42 twin and the B38 hot air engine.  Runners, of course would be
nice but, at least for the B42, I can replace burned out heating elements.

Thanks again,
Wayne

I wished the B-42 would fit on my display, which this year I have put out as a x-mas decoration!  At least the B-38 is out :-)

Hope you find a B-42 & B-38!

Ya know .... for some model steamers (and blacksmiths too), getting a sack of COAL for Christmas would be the very best present they could get!
