Baby Blue Overhaul!
« on: June 14, 2025, 03:51:34 pm »
After finishing 2 major projects for Charlie (which I am sure he will post about soon);  I did an overhaul of my first built plant (the baby blue)

The wood is 50% larger so it isn’t as cramped.  Things have been arranged in a better fashion and has some new features. The water cup is to the left of the boiler and much larger. Also bolted down, and I am not using a siphon tube but simply a tube drilled into the bottom of the cup, leak proof.  It now features guardrails as well.  The boiler is mounted to a metal plate and there is a BIX stand under the boiler to secure it in its place.  This will help insulate and secure the burner.  It now also features a BIX tank which is near by the boiler to keep it warm as it condenses. Utilizing a coiled gas line which absorbs vibrations.

The dynamo, lamp, and switch are now on a risen wooden box which is hollow to hide wiring inside of it.  Upgraded pressure guage and a few various other things. Installed union nuts on the steam pipe so I can easily un assemble the engine in need of maintenance.  I worked for about 11 hours straight on this today. M
Had to re engineer everything and it is much much better.

THIS WAS TRICKY!!! But it is a siphon tube (soldered pipe) to bottom of boiler and a water pump at the same time.  Close the bypass to pump water in.

Did some more updates.   ;D   A very rare riveted freshly nickel plated boiler installed with my own custom sight glass and blowdown…. It really turned out stellar!
