Before and after steam engine bases

I thought some of my engines would benefit from having a wood display base so I picked out ten and measured them up. The construction went well using walnut except for a slight senior moment with the PM engine base.....I finished the wrong side. All in all I think they turned out well and present themselves better now. I'll probably make a few more along with a new replacement one for the one I screwed up.

Magnificent Upgrades!!!
However, I do really like the steam engine "base" that is depicted in the plans shown as the backdrop, as a boat really does make a very special base for a steam engine!

Those are real beauties . I always make bases for my orphan engines , but I use ordinary 3/4 plywood with a more utilitarian look . I like bases on my engines so they will be ready for use at any time I choose .
