Yesterday I exhibited at the Fall 2023 Antique Machinery Show in Kent, Ct.

I opted to miss work yesterday to attend this show on Friday which proved to be a truly good choice as the weather was great. We had clean dry air, sunshine and temperatures around 48 F at 7:30 am and up to 70 degrees for the afternoon.

While show went on today, I opted to stay home as our weather went sour. Today is is 45-55 degrees with gray skies, lots of wind, and rain.

Nice that this show is now just 38 minutes from our home in Torrington in light traffic.

While there, as always, I am on the lookout for something to bring home. This time I found no small engines but rather a few other neat things.

I have wanted a gas powered hedge trimmer for a while now and found a great one for the princely sum of $25.

I was not looking for but also bought a nicely made mini jack call the "Little Jack" from  Precision Scientific of Chicago.

Then from the same table I picked up a motor driven whetstone for $50 after a short negotiation.

I know that little scissor jack. I once took a pair of them and removed the screw drive and replaced it with a Pneumatic cylinder which was fired by a valve linked to a conveyor drive wheel, such that every 6 inches of belt travel the ram fired, causing the jack to extend in a horizontal direction across the direction of belt movement, thus pushing stacks of pencils against the far wall of the conveyor so that they would be nicely stacked going into the next hopper to be feed through the next painting sequence.

Hope any of that made sense. Certainly, a case where a picture is worth a thousand words ..... so I guess I should go looking for a picture?!?!

Hey Gil, I finally ran across a couple of photos of my pencil pusher application using your little scissor jack that you showed in this thread a few months ago.

The photos don't really show the jack in any way that you can identify it, as it had to be shrouded to be anything like safe to use around operators hands, but trust me, inside the little covers resides a scissor jack just like yours, only pneumatically operated as the conveyor belt advances.
