Great idea, Jan!   Thanks.

It is too easy to just push the button and let the in base electric motor spin it so yes, it ought to be belted up to something else.

I have always liked that PM research drill press.
I have a new in the box casting set for one that I will start someday, hopefully soon now that I am "retired"
 
That looks like a very well constructed example, congratulations.
